GFest 2017 latest

Plans are firming up for GFest 2017 with some exciting new events lined up. This biennial festival celebrating all parts of the civil parish of Gnosall, which covers a large rural area, as well as the villages of Gnosall, Moreton and Knightley, will be held from Saturday 15th to Sunday 23rd July. The draft programme will be circulated widely in the near future.

Chairman Kenneth Ingram says: "Our local community comes together every two years for GFest activities. We welcome others to join us. This time the tourism group Visit Stafford has recognised our role in reaching out to visitors by awarding GFest 2017 with a splendid grant. We owe them our thanks."

The popular Open Gardens day on 23rd July will be among the longstanding repeat features on the programme, such as the Classical Concert (with young local musicians, handbell ringers, and the Serenata Ensemble), a family treasure hunt, Festival ecumenical church service, St Lawrence tower opening, and family fun run, to mention a few.

A novel event will be a canal boat trip on the evening of 18th July from the Boat Inn, with a fish and chip supper (advance booking essential). Made in Gnosall two-day craft fair and exhibition will have an added feature - taster workshops on Sunday 23rd (jewellery and card-making). With hopefully a renewed boardwalk on the Acres Open Space by then, children will be able to try pond-dipping in Doley Brook. A Gnosall Heritage Open Day will be accompanied by an antiques valuation event in the Grosvenor Centre on 19th July.

Mary Booth, GFest Vice-Chair, says: "We have some great events to which we can look forward, but the Group are still raising funds to make GFest 2017 a success. So if anyone or any business can help by making a donation or sponsoring an event, that would be much appreciated."

Full details of the programme will be on the GFest section of Gnosall Parish website and also circulated to every household in the village. The GFest Group invites local businesses or individuals to sponsor Festival events and/or provide prizes.
